Well, first you have to decide how much you are wanting to sue for in your lawsuit. Some courts have a jurisdictional cap as to how much a settlement can be. You should call the civil courts in your county to find out the correct court to file your lawsuit. Secondly, once you have contacted the correct court, ask if they have paperwork for pro se litigants. Some courts have legal clincs to assist persons filing lawsuits on their own behalf. If you cannot find legal assistance, it is best you seek the help of an attorney.

preferably get a no win no pay lawyer / solicitor, as you wont have to pay any fees and it will come out of your claim, shop around also, and get a one that deals in personal injury or car accident, this is a must, we were in the same boat and got a solicitor who was just a all rounder and he totally screwed up my case and i got basically nothing, and 11 years on still have effects from the accident

Yellow pages...the smallest add. DO NOT go with the TV add ones...any credible attorney should never have to do that unless trying to suck money out of you! Hope every one else is ok.

Get a lawyer, if you wish to do it yourself go to your local magistrate's office and fill out the proper paperwork.
