The liberals in the Democrat party are in a symbiotic relationship with the left wing liberal loonies in the main stream media. Both groups will use anything to dis Republicans.
They tried it with John Kennedy, making a big deal out of the fact he was Catholic.

I think with all the controversy over President Bush's references to his beliefs founded on his Christianity while hes been in office, that anyone running for a polical office, especially President, would be a serious focal point in any election. It's not my opinion, but Mormonism is considered by some to be a "cult" and therefore draws serious critisim. The main agenda by propigada is to draw attention to what is percieved by some as a "achilles heel" to detract from the positives the political canidate might have.

The criticism I have read on blogs about Romney's Mormonism is from the Christian right. The press just picks it up because others talk about it. I do not think of the media as particularly creative. They would not make an issue of it, but they would report that others are making an issue of it. I remember a lot of discussion of it several months ago on a right wing conservative blog called hangrightpolitics--which is a very good blog if you are conservative.

It hasn't been the Democratic Party. It's the Republican Party since part of their base is made up of evangelical Christians. They don't feel right for voting for Romney. Check the polls.
Democrats don't have an issue because they don't care.

Actually the only ones I have seen posting on YA and have otherwise heard that care at all are those who identify with the Republican party. Maybe a few Democrats might be like that but most of the ones speaking the loudest about his religion are the ones on the right.

hahaha... yeah the conservatives never talk about religion do they? they don't really like religion and don't think it's important... right?
thanks for the laugh... the issue here is conservatives push protestant Christianity at every chance they have... which is quite different than Mormons...
you can't force an issue into the public and then just put it away when you don't want to use it any more...
Christians won't be happy... but I think you guys may figure that out on your own.. if you haven't already...

For the same reason they do not ask why Obama big ears bin laden is really a Muslim and not a Christan. As no Muslims cry out for a fatwas on Obama or a death sentence which is per the Koran.
It is OK for a Democrat and not a Republican. as they are called the drive by media. Spray bullets all over to hit where they may( lies).

Harry Reed is not running for president. Face reality: there is a more stringent examination of presidential candidates.

I can't speak for the motives of the press. But I challenge you to show me one democratic contender who has brought the subject up.
Just one.

Read the Book or Mormon, it's not as scary as the Bible, Qu'ran or Torah but it's pretty freaky.
