I got a sample from my tank, and my diesel fuel was blue in color. Anyone know what's going on?

It's a very dark blue. When held to the light you can see the original diesel color. I checked the fuel in my other vehicle, and it is fine. Just my truck is blue.

They were both filled at the same place and in the same day.

Yes, its dyed. Sometimes diesel fuel to be dyed, as well as home heating oil, is dyed. This is to prevent tax fraud. Home heating oil is not taxed, nor is diesel fuel for use in farm (off road) vehicles. Diesel fuel for use in over the road vehicles is taxed, and may be dyed to distinguish it from untaxed fuel.

What country are you in? There is a chart on the wiki page showing different colors are used in different countries.

how blue? lightly tinted blue is no problem, kool aid blue means something strange is going on. I've only seen red dye used to end up with a pinkish fuel. Check with your distributer.

Hi with such an old classic it could be the belt has slipped and that may be because it has been stood. as the timing belts do perish and that could happen. so it may be an expensive repair by the sounds of it, leaving any car static too long is going to be a hazard.
