Stay out of it. Let the store manager and clerk take care of it. That is what they get paid for. The worse things someone can do is get involved into other peoples' fights.

Although you sound like a good samaritan, so I guess the best would be to pull the angry customers aside and have them talk it out with the salesgirl away from gaining further attention.

Ask them to follow you to discuss the problem so the sales person can get back selling and customers don't have to watch the drama.

listen closely to the conversation. By doing that, you may find out who was right and who was wrong. then straighten them out if you want . If in a very fierce argument.. better stay out of it or else you get KO for no reason.
