Because we are human.

Religion, Land, Power are the big "let's go to war" reasons.

We couldn't get along in the perfect eternal world where everyone cooperates perfectly. We all came to this world to be separate form God. This material world is for those who envied Gods position and He created this place so we could exhibit our free will and be separate from Him. Though He never leaves us because He is omnipresent, we are covered by Maya (illusion) so we can think we are this body and enact out our desires.But the fact is, we are not this material body, IE; Race, color, nationality, Religion, mind, intellect, senses, job, etc. We are all eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. We never die, only this mortal body dies.
This material world is not our real home, it is called Maya (illusion) and is temporary and full of misery, only one fourth of the souls come here, and the rest are enjoying blissful eternal loving relationships with our Maker named above. Those who are intelligent, take up the process of self realization (Bhakti Yoga) which gives one real peace, happiness and reality. Then at the end of life they can return to the eternal Kingdom where there is no more birth, death, old age, or disease and be eternally happy. IF you want real cooperation and to all get along then aspire for the world where everyone gets along. Why settle for less in this temporary place life after life. It is all our choice. I choose reality and real cooperation.

this question doesn't look like it's meant to be serious, my prediction is that it will end with a vote...

anywho there are limitless number of reasons for one to not get along with another. a lot of movies have addressed this question so i'd be wrong to claim it as my own but it roots down to "difference." let's say you got some nice hair that i don't have. right there, envy, then conflict. then it can root to ignorance. let's say i didn't like you for your hair so i give you attitude, it may so happen that you cut your own hair and was willing to cut my hair the same way untill i gave you attitude. actually...this can be considered to be a marxist view...

then again equality can also root to conflict as well. and that can be stemmed from buddhist (possibly hindu?) teachings that desire is the root of evil. you may have the same amount as your brother but your desires for more cause you to fight with your brother.

but when you think about it, it is practically impossible to achieve harmony on earth and still be human. because we'd have to sacrifice free will to kill our desires and sacrifice individuality to have equality. to be like the next guy is boring and lame, not to mention a phychological meltdown (clones).

some may say tolerance is the key for harmony. to some extent it is. but to the extreme, we would become inhuman as well. we would be animals.
