It could be a medical problem like dry eye, or it could be a behavioral issue. It may just be his way of focusing on what he's trying to explain. If you think it's a problem, try talking to a child psychologist.

my son does it. he has adhd no I'm not saying ur child does. but we have always notice since he was like 5. we had him checked out for it. come to find out my child has childhood tics that we was told will grow out of it more. we talked to my child's Dr about his blinking and she set him up with a neurologist specialist that took tons of test. ur child might have the same thing or could have tolerates syndrome. which if it dont bug him then dont worry about it. my son used eye drops too cause at times he blinked so much his eyes would be red. one way they knew he had it cause when a child does have it they dont know they are blinking but if u say something they try not to blink and tend to blink even more. try not to say anything to ur son about it when hes doing it. it will not last as long if u point it out. also let ur kids teachers know that way they dont think hes being a smart butt. my son will be 15 in a month and doesnt hardly even do it now. only when hes stressed now.

This could very well be obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). OCD manifests itself in many different ways. My biggest compulsions are moving a certain finger a certain number of times, or blinking until I feel a though I can stop, or saying only 5-words sentences, etc.
This is an excrusiating, life-altering problem and mine went undetected/undiagnosed for over 15 years. They now make medications for it so ask his doctor.
Also, there are certain tics that are normal and that the child will grow out of.

I wouldn't stress it to much. Alot of people blink to much.
Maybe his eyes are dry. Eye drops would be a good idea.
Also, have you had him checked out, or are you just saying that hes alright? Things develop over time. If you have had him checked, and his doctors say he's alright, don't worry. If you see any other symptoms, then let the doctors know. Otherwise, don't sweat it.

My son just turned 3 on the 14th of December and he is trying to potty train. He did really well for a few weeks but then he stopped for a while. Boys are harder to train than girls. I have a daughter and she was trained by 2. So be patient and try to take him to the bathroom every hour or so and maybe have his dad or another male go in there and show him. It will all work in due time.

If nothing is wrong, don't sweat it.
But his eyes might be dry. Did the doctor check for that?
Good luck!
