As you can see from the posting of the previous three people- they have absolutely no clue. They don't understand that evolution is a theory in exactly the same way that gravitation is a theory. We know it occurs, we see evidence of it everywhere but from a scientific standpoint, any model or explanation for things in the world is a THEORY.
They don't understand that evolution is supported by research from hundreds of different fields such as geology, botany, astronomy, biology, chemistry etc. They don't realize that we see evidence of it everyday, from petri dishes in labs to natural environments like the ocean floor.
They listen to agenda-driven religious and political leaders who rail against science and actually believe those people are interested in the facts, when the opposite is true.
Kelvera, the proof is all around you- we accept evolution because that's what the facts lead us to conclude. If another theory came along which explained things even better and is consistent with the vast amounts of scientific data which has been collected over thousands of years, then that theory would be adopted- that's how science works.
New flash, art babe:
There is no question in mainstream scientific circles as to whether evolution occurs. Intelligent design isn't even close to a valid scientific theory, it's a repackaging of creationist ideas that relies entirely on semantics to muddle the argument - it's a linguistic curveball. People are certainly free to believe in a creator or designer if they wish (who knows, maybe there was) but there is absolutely NO scientific evidence of that.
Evolution does NOT state that things evolved randomly. It states that mutations occur randomly, and non-random factors determine whether these mutations are carried forward into future generations. But the whole intelligent design argument hinges on the improbability of things arriving at a degee of complexity and function "by chance" (which evolution never claimed to begin with). The argument isn't worth the paper bag it came in, and the so-called academics who support Intelligent design for their own political ends know this. They are disingenuous at best and maliciously misleading at worst.
I suggest YOU get out of the box and do some digging.... The truth will set you free!

I'm 38, the "family tree" of human evolution has changed so many times in my lifetime it isn't funny anymore.
One day you grandpa was a neanderthal, the next day he's a cousin. The next day he isn't related at all.
One day they say that "proto -humans" didn't overlap because one evolved from the other, the next they did.
Don't eve get me started to the games they play with "brain case volume criteria". They change that number whenever they want.
Human evolution is very much a developing science. We have got a long way to go before we can draw any conclusions.
So, perhaps the people you think are "retarded" just know a little bit more about the subject than you do.
Darwin, little men from Mars, invisible men in the sky, spin the wheel and take your chances.

Because it is so much easier to read the Holy Bible for a week and call one self a creationist, than spend years actually studying scientific facts supported by real discoveries in archeology, microbiology, genetic research etc. These people don't like to use their brains: education equals a very hard work... They don't see the need to check the facts, before spitting hateful ( non-Christian ) messages at scientists. The funniest thing is that some of us are religious people. However, in your rush to splash your ignorance all over us you didn't pose to think of that possibility.
P.S. To ART_GIRL: What do you personally know about cell research? What in the hell does it have to do with evolution?
Thank you for offering a colorful display to my comment: you are exactly the person i am referring to here.

You may say that I am straddling the fence but I believe that nature, or god, designed we humans to adapt in order to survive. Without the ability to adapt to the ever changing environment then we would have become extinct long ago. I don't believe for a moment that we "evolved" from any form of primate. I do believe that we adapted from an earlier form of human to the point that we exist today. I also do not believe that we were created from the desire or imagination of a supreme being. We have always been here in some form and we will continue to adapt in order to survive.

Evolution is not a revealed truth. It is a group of scientific theories whic still have holes in them. Your question hints at an intolerance of others' views. The world is a mysterious and wonderful place. We have progressed somewhat with the "how" but not with the"why".

Take a look around you at mankind and then study history.
Have we evolved? I only see new technology. An that is mostly used to kill our selves ! So where is the prof of mans evolution?

The biggest supporters of evolution are professors teaching in colleges. A large portion of college professors are atheists so teaching evolution is the perfect way to perpetuate their godless views.
However, if you did a little homework and dug deep enough, you would find that evolution, Darwinism, and the like are losing lots of ground in their "theories" with many mainstream research scientists. They are finding that the single cell is not so simple after all, and the more scientists learn about the single cell, the less evolution makes sense.
Do your homework and quit looking to college professors, and simple minded atheists for your information. Get out of that box you're in.

Their reluctance to accept evolution over creationism is very similar to the historic reluctance to accept that the world wasn't flat and that the earth wasn't the center of the universe.
It's not evolution in America that worries me, it's our country's accelerated de-evolution.

Some people believe in creationism because of their faith.
I believe it's OK for all of us to believe whatever works for each of us as individuals..
It doesn't mean anyone is "retarded".
