Believe it or not, Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart (the players in The Eurythmics) were once lovers. They were part of a band called The Tourists with Peet Combes in 1979, and had quite the thing for about two years. When the group broke up, so did the love affair, but ever-practical, Dave realized that his best bet for musical stardom was to hook up (in a purely professional way) with Annie. Hence the song which she wrote, to outline her feelings towards Dave's true motives (and the music industry in general):
Everybody's looking for something:
Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused.
However, I'm not sure whether that makes Annie the pot or the kettle, because she stayed with Dave (professionally) for nine albums, eighteen billboard hits, and a grammy in 1986, knowing how he felt about her. I guess success is the final answer.
