I determined that none of this (the race with the rats) really matters. A job is a job and a boss is a boss and a paycheck is a paycheck. If you layout what you want to do with the time you have and keep a running list ie: I want to date a blonde guy with a funny personality and have a house with 2 bedrooms and a job that brings in enough money to eat and afford a vacation. Then pursue this. If anything is holding you back like the guy you are dating isn't this guy and the job you hold isn't making you enough money and your friend that you room with gripes about things and you don't like it there then go after what you want. Life is rushing by and you only have now to get it done so live it and love it your way. P.S. be kind and generous to everyone and the joy will rub off. People like to be around people who are happy. (Learn to cook soup, it got me through raising 3 and veggies with rice or noodles feeds you for days)

Right there with ya.
But I take it a step further. The dishes have to be washed, the trash has to be taken out, the bills have to be paid, I have to take a shower, I have to wash clothes - The maintance of life is ongoing and relentless.
But it is what it is ... If we stop doing those things the quality of life is severely diminished.
Here's something on it by the Greek poet Cavafy.
"Monotony"
One monotonous day is followed
by another monotonous, identical day. The same
things will happen, they will happen again --
the same moments find us and leave us.
A month passes and ushers in another month.
One easily guesses the coming events;
they are the boring ones of yesterday.
And the morrow ends up not resembling a morrow anymore.
Constantine P. Cavafy (1908)

I hear you my friend and I always say we get so bored all the time especially for me on the week days when I am at work. The beginning of the week can be rough but the important thing is we always have to so these chores to stay alive for our basic survival and when we start to neglect them bad side effects incur we just have to try and find diversions to make us happy here and there and not get so bored with just the everyday living the mind and the thoughts play a big part in controlling this :)))

Yes I'm tired of it too, but stopping this "cycle" would only worsen our situation. This "cycles" are necessities of life, this will allow us to progress. We either adapt or die, and I know that you don't like death too. That's why doing the opposite(i.e. stopping the cycle) would only lead you directly or indirectly closer to death.

It isn't that bad at all.

Your life is probably less bored and tedious if you were to examine it. Monotony doesn't sit well for anyone who cannot abide boredom. Boredom is a treat. When you learn to love it, the quality of your life changes.
Some go one further and even fear boredom.

No, I enjoy eating, and I have no problem finding nourishment. I also count my blessings when I think of all those in the world who wish the only problem they had was taking care of their primary needs. Think about that before you complain about something.

Sure - so cut your requirements to the minimum, be smart about filling them, and you'll have more time for your life. Laziness is the mother of efficiency.
