Marge Schott used to own the Cincinnati Reds.

Yes, the St. Louis Rams have a woman majority owner in Georgia Frontiere. Also, I believe the Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49'ers have woman owners.

It's happened a number of times, but almost always it's been the widow of the team former owner. Marge Schott (who owned the Reds from 1984 to 1999) is one of the few exceptions. Other female owners have included:

- Jean Yawkey (widow of Tom Yawkey), Boston Red Sox 1976-92
- Jackie Autry (widow of Gene Autry), Anaheim Angels, 1998-99
- Joan Kroc (widow of Ray Kroc), San Diego Padres, 1984-1990
- Wendy Selig-Prieb (daughter of Bud Selig) - was technically the owner of the Milwaukee Brewers from 1998-2004, though that was just a front so her dad would have any official conflicts of interest as Commissioner.

Marge Schott did own the Reds. Also Jean Yawkey had the controlling interest in the Red Sox from 1976 - 1992.

Marge Schott - In the NFL, I think the Rams are owned by a woman.

Actually, women end up with most of the dough. They are plenty rich. They kill off their husbands by nagging and complaining. Once they've hounded the guy into his grave, they take his money and spend it on their cats and on shopping. They don't own professional sports teams only because they're not that interested in sports.

Marge Schott owned the Cincinatti Reds from 1984 to 1999. She did not inherit the team, but she did inherit the money that she used to buy the team. I know she didn't inhereit the team from her husband because she bought the controlling stake in the team in 1984 - her husband, Charles Schott, died in 1968 and she never remarried.

I believe Marge Schott owned the Cincinnati Reds back in the 1980's. She created some controversy by making racists remarks towards the black players.
