Evil is just another choice of reality. Just like choosing your attitude. Evil and good flow through our minds all day, everyday, and then we choose which thoughts to contemplate. If you think about goodness you are good; if you spend your time thinking evil, you become evil. What do you do when an evil thought or a nightmare comes floating through your conscience? If you listen to the voice of goodness, you will behave. If you listen to the voice of evil you will drift in the evil direction. Bullies and murderers are the same except for the intensity of the level on which they operate. A good person can fall to evil just by dwelling on evil thoughts and making an evil reality part of life.

Evil arises from the overwhelming desire to be good in other people's eyes. By nature, man is not evil but through nurture, man can cultivate evilness into his life due to the influence of many external factors such as media etc. However, why do all these external factors exist in the first place? These arise from, I think, the desire to have attention and be the best in everything we do (the strive for improvement). Hence, we are more exposed and experienced with the outside world.

if there is Good, then there must be Evil...as there would be no way to distinguish what is Good when there is nothing to which it could be compare. and so Evil should be something that is considered Less than Good.
the concept of Evil is a consequence of our different natures; everything "we" do is for our own "good" which may unfortunately be "evil" done to "others".

An evil action is a deliberate desire to tear apart unity binding together more than one entity. Since love is the strongest binding force that is the most lasting, it is directly in opposition to love.

the desire to do harm or wrong to others and ones self. Do deny the existence of The Creator and to live in ignorance. God gives us the choice to choose evil or Truth that is so we can exhibit our free will. There is no show of love unless their is a choice to act according to Truth or Illusion or evil. God is all about relationships with the living entities and unless we have the choice there is no possibility to show love or to reject. He never touches our free will. For info on Truth and evil read Bhagavad Gita as it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada tells all.

Evil is culturally determined, as much as we might like to think there's such a thing as "absolutes." In human history there is no act, however despicable it seems to our sensitivities, that has not been condoned or even praised by some culture at some point in history. For example, killing is evil, yet we teach our soldiers to do just that. Human sacrifice makes us shudder, yet the Aztecs and Mayas engaged in it. Incest--? Cleopatra, one of the most able women known to historians, was the product of generations of brother-sister incest (pharaohs were expected to marry their sibling). In short, the concept of evil is a human construct and requires a human act of volition. By this I mean that an erupting volcano or an earthquake that kills thousands is a terrible thing, but is it "evil"? No human agency caused it to happen. Murder is evil because only a human can murder another human; a hungry tiger or a shark that eats someone isn't evil but is just obeying its nature. As to where evil comes from, it obviously comes from inside the human spirit/mind/soul, but that's another question...
