I can't remember if these are 39c. or 41c. stamps. (Their value is not printed on them.) It's 41c. to mail a domestic letter these days, right?

I do believe those are the "forever" stamps. Those will cover the current postal rate. If these are, you should see the word forever written up the side.

They started printing the forever stamps just before the rate increase. They allow you to still use them without buy supplemental stamps when the raise the rates again.

If they are less than 50 years old and issued by the USPS, they should have a letter or the word 'forever' on them. Stamps labeled 'Forever' were sold for 41 cents, but will be good for 1st class postage even if the rate increases before they are used. Prior to the 'Forever' stamp the Post Office issued stamps with a letter as temporary stamps between a rate increase and the availability of stamps with the new rate printed on them. This allowed 'new' rate stamps to be produced in large quantities before the new rate was finalized. If you have one of those, the letter is needed to determine the value, but is in not more that 39 cents.

You can use it like a 41c stamp or you can keep it for five years and still use it as a First Class Domestic Mail Stamp.

That's the idea of the forever stamp - it's good for first class postage within the US any time, no matter what the price is by then.

If you just recently purchased the stamps they are worth 41 cents. Show them to a postal clerk for verification.

Take some time to look for a collector. To anyone else these stamps are just stamps.

those are the forever stamps. they are worth the current price of the stamps. for example if the price of stamps goes up to $1. then your stamp is also worth $1 no matter what you paid for it. So stock up now for the future.
