Well... i want to use tampons (first time) But i only want to use them for swimming and other things where i have to run around a lot! I was wondering if regular tampons (not junior fit) would be good to use for the first time, and also for swimming and running! By the way, i am 13 and just had my period August 7th! Oh, and i won't have to use them for another two months cause that's when the winter sports start!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

It's probably better to start with the smallest size since you're still young. If you're thinking of the regular or super because of absorbancy, just use the small junior size kind and change it more often.

Even with regular or super tampons, it's HIGHLY recommended to change the tampon often to avoid toxic shock syndrome.

omg im soooo glad u asked this question!! i am 13 and i got my period when i was 11 and i was soooooo frustrated because i cud not get any tampons in!! and i play soccer, basketball, i have a pool, and i live by a lake.

my first tip, dont use cardboard aplicators when you are trying for your first time. USE A PLASTIC APPLICATOR. they are much more comfortable, and go in easier.

second tip, i am 5'0 so i have a very small body. Most regular szes were to big...well they would go in but they would be uncomfortable. But then i saw an add for playtex sport and i just HAD to get them **wink wink** lol. they are soooooooo much more comfortable than any brand i have ever used!! the tampon is small, but not as small as a slender/junior size, and not as big as a regular size!! perfect!!! plus even cuz of its size i can still wear it for like, 5 hours!!! but i change half way through my school day either way :]

third tip, dont be discouraged if u dont et it on the first, second, third, fourth, fith, or even 20th try!! i took up 3 boxes of tampons and 3 girl cycles just TRYING to put them in. turns out i wasnt pushing hard enough and i was 2 scared!

fourth tip, always wear a pad/pantiliner with a tampon, unless its in water or something. chances are before u get the hang of it, even after uve been using a tampon for a couple of months, ur going to leak at one point or another. so unless you want blood stains, i suggest u wear one.

fifth tip, make SURE u kno all the rules of using a tampon, like all about TSS [[toxic shock syndrome]] and everything else!!

sixth tip, use the tampon that is the lightest absorbency u can use that fully protects u && ur flow.

seventh tip, start practicing using tampons NOW. hopefully u will get it down by sports season! it helps and u get better and better!!

wow that was a lot to write, but from one teenage girl to another! thats the best advice i could give u.. good luck sweetie!

Congratulations on starting your period!! First, I think it's important to think about if you are sexually active or not. No, a tampon will not "take away your virginity" but it might break your hymen (if you do not know what that means you can look it up...sorry). While the hymen can break, and these days usually does so because of the activities that young girls are involved in, it does not mean you are not a virgin anymore but it may be something to consider. With that being said, it is up to you what a good fit would be. I suggest getting a box with multiple kinds and starting with the smallest. If you are getting some leakage, then move up to the next size. You don't want to start too big because then it is painful to take out if it is not wet enough. I hope this helps.

First, you need to relax because it really isn't as big of a deal as you are probably thinking. The size you use depends on you, your comfort level and your flow. You can use a regular to start out, but you may want to use some K-Y jelly to help with insertion the first time or so, until you get used to it. You may not get it right the first time and you may have to try a few times to get it right. Just remember, if it is in right, you should not feel it at all.

If at all possible, this is really something you should be talking to your mom about or an older sister, aunt, etc. A close, older female role-model would really be helpful for you while you learn how to do this.

Best of luck to you.

First time tampon use can be frustrating. You should use the junior fit, but you can also try the regular if you don't have junior. Try practicing when you don't have your periods just to get used to it. The plastic applicators work well. Be patient, good luck!

I would start out with a tampon slightly smaller than regular, like a lite or something, until you get used to them. Good luck!

Oh yes, VERY IMPORTANT, remember to change tampons and pads as often as the directions on the box suggest to avoid infections.

I would start with a Jr. Tampon & work your way up. You won't know what size you need until you try them & how much you bleed. You have 2 months to figure out what size you might need, don't wait until you need to use them for your sport classes. :)
Congratulations....

It really depends on your flow if you have a really lite flow then start with junior fit but if it is a little heavier then start at regular. You don't want to start out with lighter than you need and have it leak

depeding on how heavy your flow is. you could use junior tampons or even regular tampons. and once you start using tampons, youll never want to go back to pads!
