My son is nearly 5 months old. He babbles a lot which is adorable. But it seems he has now discovered his voice and screams at high-levels regularly when he is playing and gets excited...sometimes louder than other times. Has anyone else experienced this?

My son was a bit older, but he would scream and cause an entire grocery store to stop in their tracks and stare! For a while, mealtime was unbearable because he would sit in his high chair and scream in little bursts. Not angry, just testing his pipes. You just have to ignore it and suffer through that phase.

ps: love the comment about teaching "indoor" and "outdoor voices". To a FIVE month old? Good luck!

My daughter does the same thing....except she seems to enjoy her "voice" the most when we are out shopping and at restaurants. We think it is cute (of course) but not everyone does!!
She started this at about 5 months and at 7 months, she is still going strong!!

My daughter started this last week (shes 4months) - she's been babbling since 3months and now she has discovered squealing and different volumes and pitches - its adorable (although sometimes a bit ear-piercing! lol)

Of course. Babies love to exercise those lungs! My daughter was quite the shrieker. Painfully so.

They'll eventually lose interest in the novelty of it. Best times are when they don't know anyone's around.

Sure! That's called 'crowing' and it's wonderful because it is one more sign of normal development.

This is the time when you get to start teaching about 'indoor voices' and 'outdoor voices' mommy!
