Ok i have to hold the hi beam switch towards me to get hi beams on my running lights work directionals work wipers work regular headlights dont i have to use hi beams but i have to also hold the switch towards me im thinking it could possible be a wire short any help would be appreciated.

If you pull the switch toward you it just "flashes" the high beams. To turn them on, push the lever away from you. If this does not work, you probably need a new combination switch.
