I just put a tampon in for the first time, and I'm scared...

I don't feel it, really, and I'm nervous it'll come out, or... something. I'm just, scared. lolz. Any comforting words?

Don't worry the walls of your vagina will hold the tampon in place. The tampon has a string, so you will be able to remove it in a couple of hours. It's pretty good feeling not having to wear a pad, it is quite freeing....

It's okay to be scared the first time you use a tampon. If you don't feel it, congrats! You've put it in correctly. A tampon won't just slip out on it's own. However, do remember that if it becomes full it may start to leak, so if you're period's heavy, you may want to change it about every 4-6 hours, depending on what absorbency you chose. And it's also best to alternate between pads and tampons at night, just because there's a risk of TSS when using tampons for extended periods of time. If you're a heavy sleeper, wear a tampon one night, a pad the next.

Also, if the tampon isn't saturated enough when you go to take it out, it can be difficult to remove and sometimes painful. Don't worry- it's normal. Just give it a little more time to accumulate more menstrual fluids, then try again. A tampon can't get stuck inside of you, and that isn't what's going on. If you pull hard enough it WILL come out, just remember it'll be painful.

But, it's perfectly okay to be scared. It sounds as though you've gotten the hang of it though.

I completely remember that feeling. It is normal that you don't feel it. That means that you inserted the tampon correctly. It will not come out or get lost in your body.

Just remember to be sure and take it out. Do not leave it in longer than 8 hours. This puts you at risk of a rare and very serious condition known as Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS). Also, don't try to pull it out too soon after putting it in because it will not have absorbed a lot of blood yet and it may be difficult to remove. Don't let that throw you-- it WILL come out.

Don't be scared! It's a big step when you do it for the first time, but it makes your life so much easier to be able to use a tampon! Good luck!

Don't we all hate wearing pads. yucky. I have had my period for 8 years. I cannot live without tampons. My suggestion when you go to insert the tampon raise your leg up like on the side of the tub, put your thumb and middle finger on the grip of the tampon, then insert it all the way till you reach your thumb and middle finger then just slowly insert the tampon in. If its uncomfortable then you went to far or not far enough. I use Tampax pearl. You cant feel them at all. Some women cannot wear tampons because it makes them hurt worse. I suggest just try it a few times till you get the feel for it. Its way better then pads. Who wants to live in a diaper? Not me lol.

Relax! You're not supposed to feel your tampon inside of you, it's supposed to feel like there isn't anything there! This is a good sign that you don't feel your tampon, it means you've inserted it correctly! By the way, your tampon won't fall out or anything because your vaginal muscles hold it in place all day (even when you're completely relaxed!). Just make sure you don't leave your tampon inside of you for over 8 hours or you're risking TSS (toxic shock syndrome!). Best of luck!

Not feeling it is a good thing. That means you put it in right. If you could feel it, I would say it was wrong.

The last submitter is right. It won't come out unless you pull it out. When you think you're ready to remove it give it a gentle tug. If it's time it will slide out. If it's not moving easily leave it in longer (up to 8 hours).

GOod luck

Don't worry! It won't come out unless you pull it out,a nd you'll have to weight at least 4 hours until you need to. Breathe deeply and relax when you come to this bit and you'll be fine!

don't worry, if you are really worried, wear a pad underneath it until you get used to it. You'll be fine. If you need to, take it out and put a new one in.
