What is the audition for?

Most monologues come from theatre, not film. That doesn't mean it can't come from film, but in general they come from theatre. Go to the library and look for monologue books, there are tons of them. Look for ones that are monologues from plays and not original monologues.

You can also look all over the net. Try these:

Do a search and you can find tons of resources.

Does it have to be from a movie ? Those monolouges are usually pretty short ...

Try a monolouge from Biloxi Blues, great play - and movie.
Or ... I remember a really great speech in 'Children of Men' - I don't know if it's long enough for a monolouge though ...

Man, I am trying to rmember the movie I saw just recently b/c after the monolouge I said, "wow, that would be an awsome audition piece for a guy," but, I can't remember. When I do, I'll edit.

Oh yeah -- does it need to be female or male ? Or do you not care ?
