IRC is a great place to get downloads from- if you know how to use it.

IRC and Direct Download.
I preffer IRC just because it maxes out my connection every time and I don't have to share with anyone. The only thing is that if it is a popular series, I would be put in a waiting list.
Direct Download if a fansubers offers it.
