I think there's a connection between soul and adversity. The harder you've had it, the more soul you have and these artists these days have had everything on a platter so there's nothing to reach for and use to bring out that tingle your toes sound.

Amen. Oh, for some Booker T. and the MG's, Sam and Dave, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Eddie Floyd, Wilson Pickett, Staple Singers, and all the different greats. Yep, those have been the days my pal!

Great question! Remind me to give you a star. Maybe Diddy's new "Making the Band 4" will have soul. I grew up on Motown! MMMMM.....Al Green, "Let's stay together!" Boo Hoo. Who do you think is closest? Black-Eyed Peas? Oh Yeah! That Star! :(

it died with janis, jimi, otis, big mama thornton, mass cass, and many others. most all of the great artists are gone, and now we're stuck with britney beers, pus.sy cat dolls, and that crank dat idiot.

it seems soul is out anyway. sex, laziness, and stupidity is in.

It wasn't making enough money, so they axed it.

I think American Idol killed whatever was left of it.
