charity in Ramadan....
there are several things but i need new things:
1)Ramadan's bag:a bag that contains all essentials(food) in ramadan:rice,meat,sugar,...etc.and give it to the needy families
2)"eftar al sa'em"(feeding the fasting):we gather money to buy eftar for those who stays in masjids during e'tekaf......
3)visiting orphangaes:and but them clothes and toys....there are some orphanages who create like an account for every kid,so when he's a grown up he could start a project or sth........
so,do you have any other ideas?

I think Codrina's idea of reaching out to other religions and the poor of other religions is a very good one. Anything that builds good will while at the same time helps others who don't have as much is a really good project to undertake and one I think would be blessed greatly.
One group that might need a bit of attention and help are single moms. Often they are working and taking care of kids by themselves with little or no money. Sometimes they are alone because of divorce or the father walks out on the family and sometimes due to death. For these women taking care of the next generation of adults, it would be a great idea to show them kindness and compassion as well as show them the goodness to be found in Islam and its people. There are so many people who keep hearing how evil Islam is from the media or the ignorant and uninformed. Showing people the good that is the real Islam can help change their viewpoints and bring about more peace than there was before.
Just my opinion. Thanks for listening.

Well, I notice that it's very easy to forget those that can't speak against their pain or suffering, or hunger.. Animals. On Yaum Qayama even animals will ask people why we mistreated them. So.. It would be a good idea to feed the animals in local pound, find them homes etc...
I often go to the park, and if I have any left over bread I break it up into pieces and feed it to the pigeons. Those poor things, you would be surprised how many gather to eat, especially during winter when food is hard to find.
Other than that.. Last year, me and the brothers and sisters in the MSA in my college (Muslim Student Association), made home cooked food, and gave it to a local shelter which also has a lot of Muslims, and we would give it out during iftaar everyday-- so everyone can eat it.
Other than that every little thing we do to maintain ourselves in Ramadan, and not stray from the right path.. is equivalent to that of giving charity.

Assalamalikum,
Very good question sister...
Similar to the the essential food bag, we also have in past created a bag to make sweet for Eid day, containing Milk + sugar and a few dry fruits... We had contacted a local grocery shop, he made the bags and stored them.. gave coupons to the people to collect from the grocery store.

1) Smile at your brother/sister face.
2) Be nice with your parents & the whole family.
3)Kelma Tayeba as Hassafer said.
4) Help anyone in need to help as you .
By the way any idea you wrote or anyone wrote here should be in the whole year not in Ramdan only.

Asalam alaikum, I recommend from personal experience working with the Cario based charity ' Manabar Al Noor' my wife works closely with this group, and we take sisters/kids that they refer to our physical therapy clinic....and please if u visit an orphanage, dont just do it in Ramadan, kids need us allll year. And yes sister many orphanages take small donations and start bank accts for the kids they take when they find a permanent sponsor family. The little 3yr old boy my wifes family "adopted" has his own small acct at an Islamic bank. Jazak Allah for the reminder....

I would contact other religious leaders in your area (where I live Muslims, Christians and Jews help each other... as well as some Eastern religions)... For instance, do something for the people that have the direst need - regardless of their religion... Then when you need help, reach out to the pastor or rabbi that you have a relationship with... people won't be so freaking racist toward Muslims if they actually got to know some of you - true Muslims, and not negative images on TV...
Peace!

How about spending time with elders? People always forget about them. Not only is it a good gesture but it makes them feel valuable. You can also learn a lot from your elders. They have experienced so much. It's a blessing to know someone old because everyday is a blessing to be alive.

yes rana, I re emphasize showing compassion to the eldery. I do not know where you live and if this problem exists in the east, but I recall my sister telling me going to hospital visiting a friend and in one of the rooms they saw an eldery woman. This eldery woman had no one visit her. She was so alone, my sister and her friends found her talking to a mirror. Since then, my sister and her friends made it a routine to go visit that eldery woman, and it made such a difference to her spirit.

yes,the month of Ramadan is coming so we should get ready for it.you can also spread knowledge(knowledge of islam)..like make some books of fatwa & give to needy,poor..so they can acquire knowledge(knowledge is light)..as you know that when a muslim dies his all good deeds stop except three things
1.beneficial knowledge
2.water in the way of Allah
3.a good son.
