like let's say maybe 5 years is the maximum difference?

Once people are over 18, there is no "legal age difference". They are consenting adults. If one of them is an adult and one isn't, thats where the law gets involved.

There isn't an age difference unless you are talking about the age of consent. The age of consent in NY is 17. Most states will have a stipulation that someone can't have sexual contact with someone that is greater than 36 months older than they are.

If both are over the age of 18, it doesn't matter the difference.

If they are both adults there is no such thing.
