How many players can you name who had a .300 batting average and 30+ homers in a season in both the American League and National League during their careers?
There should be eight of them.

Jim - You've got a bunch, but Sheff and Lee don't make it. Sheff never hit .300 in the AL, and Lee didn't do it in the NL because his 2006 season was split between the two leagues.

WOW!!! Reasearching this and seeing the McGwire actually hit over 300 for a season at all is amzing let alone 3 different times...although a few were 29 or 89 game seasons! You have the list above...I love the guy calling someone for cheating off him when the other guys answer was in way ahead of him...NICE!!! The answers like David Wright, Mickey Mantle and Ted Williams should be slapped for not reading the DARN QUESTION!
Great Trivia though, made me check out guys stats that I had forgot about!

That's only 7. All I have are guesses otherwise:
Matt Williams? He wasn't really a .300 hitter, but in '99 he was unbelievable for the D-Backs. He was in Cleveland for a year or two, and had a pretty good year in '97, the year they went to the World Series, but I don't remember if he was one of their .300 hitters that year.
Tony Clark? Another D-Back. I know he did it in '06, but again I'm not sure if he did it during his Tigers years. Again, never really a .300 hitter.
Jim Edmonds? He has done it a couple times as a Cardinal. I don't remember him doing it for the Angels.
Dave Winfield? Surely he's on this list, isn't he?
Dick Stuart? This is my dad's suggestion, a 1B in the '60's for Pittsburgh. He said Stuart played a couple of years for the Red Sox, and was huge for them. I don't know.
My guess for the 8th is Dave Winfield for the Padres and Yankees.

Jim Thome with Indians and Phillies?
I dont recall either hitting for high average... but they could have had a good season or two.
Vladimir Guerrero - Montreal and the Angels...
Just guessing...

Mark Mcguire was an early guess by someone else and I never gave it a second thought. I didn't think there was any way he ever hit .300, let alone *twice*. wow.
That's 8.
