What I'm trying to do is make a collage table that has different objects on it not just pictures or paper, but 3D objects on it. Also to make it where it is a usable table with a flat surface. Thanks for the Help!

Use whatever you want in terms of pictures and glue them on to ceramic tiles then varnish them. Then, break other colorful tiles and make a mosaic. Then glue the tiles on to a table and then grout (you can get grout and all the other materials at Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware, or any local DIY store) in between everything. Now you have a 3D colorful mosaic/collage table!

Buy some 1x3 lumber and ask the store to cut it for you in lengths that you can use to form a rectangle to outline the top of your coffee table. Arrange your collage inside the rectangle, then add a piece of plexiglas, also cut to the size of your table. That gives you 3 inches to play with.

If it's a low traffic area, you can just place everything there, but if people will be bumping into it, use staples or small nails to build your frame, and drill holes for screws to fasten your plexiglas to the frame. To be extra sturdy, drill holes up through the table into the bottom of the frame, and use screws to secure the frame to the table from underneath.

You can set it up as Kaky says, but instead of plexiglass to cover, you can use a pour in resin and fill in the wood form you made. I've seen this done in several art schools--it's really cool, but it's also very expensive. I would make a small table and with not very tall objects embedded because it takes a LOT of resin to fill the form and cover everything completely. Also make sure the table is setting level while it cures.
