A normal 10-12 hours of light is fine for aquarium plants. What extra care you may or may not need depends greatly on what type of plants you have, how many plants, the size of the tank, the type of lighting and how many of what kinds of fish you have. Feel free to email me with more details and I'll be glad to help.

Ideally with live plants, the light should be on for 10-12 hours a day. Fertilization with liquid is optional, minimum twice a month. If you have an airstone running in the tank, turn it off or take it out. It will remove the CO2 that the plants need to live. Most pressurized CO2 systems are very expensive, but you can make your own for less than $5.
