Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, and now Michael Vick? Do they expect people to forgive them because they say they have
"found Jesus" right after they commit a crime?

Not expect just the people/fans to forgive him, but think she/he may get out of trouble by saying that.

It's an appeal for a get-out-of-jail-free card for celebrities, who think we are a bunch of naive idiots who believe everything they say. In a lot of ways, we give them good reason to think that. Either that, or they are playing hide and seek with the Lord.

Because most of America has religion, or at least those are the principles this country was founded on, they think that appealing to the masses (their job) will absolve them of their crimes.

Maybe I'm wrong. Honest truth - who are we to judge? Maybe they have. Wait until your world falls apart and see who lifts you back up.

My wife is born again and I am an Atheist. Yep, makes for some interesting conversation.

My wife would answer your question by saying something like, " "found Jesus", I didn't know he was lost".

I would answer your question by saying celebrities are not alone. Almost every cell on death row contains a Christian. Just ask them, they all have found Jesus.

The funny thing is some "Christians" actually believe the nonsense that condemned men and women spew. If they have found some comfort great. I don't care if it is in the form of Little Red Riding Hood or the tooth fairy. But, I simply don't believe they have anything, especially a personal relationship with something I can find no evidence of...

Anyway, it's an interesting question. And, it gets better when you look at the results of their conversion a few months after they are released.

Just curious, didn't Lohan find God in 84 minutes or something like that???

Well, it appears that most of them will say anything EXCEPT "I was wrong and I did an awful thing." Michael Vick said he needed to grow up. That's easy for anyone to say. Most seem to have been instructed to say the "magic words" that will calm down all the bad publicity. I think very few ever think what they did was wrong. Most only regret getting caught.

Because playing the religion card often works, as does the rehab ploy. Lindsay Lohan was recently photographed perusing the AA "Big Book." Seems like she isn't aware that the program is named "Alcoholics Anonymous." That said, I do hope she accepts the help she badly needs.

To gain the public's sympathy while going thru an embarrassing ordeal. Once the ordeal has passed, their bibles also hit the trash can & the partying begins...until the next awkward event.

I thought the exact same thing!

I don't know, maybe, they might just be trying to get forgiven(like you said)

But of course, if they commit another crime...

I agree with mooshie. I think celebs think it would be a "quick fix" to all their problems . . . for their fans' sake! Cheap shot for the celebs.

Its part of the whole rehab thing. I guess one of the 12 steps or is it 13 anyhow, is finding the "LORD-AH".
