As King (throne descended to him) he would be the ultimate authority of the land, but if he was the prince consort, he would just be considered the husband of the Queen (throne descended directly to her) and she would be the ultimate authority of the land.

Yes, since the Queen is a constitutional monarch and has no real powers. Women of the 21st century are more equal to men than in the 1600's 1700's where a women belong to the husband with her property and even paid dowry to the husband's family when marrying. Parliament can regulate the powers of a Queen and her consort so the problem a King-Consort posed in the past is nonexistent. Today there is equality os the sexes and there should be no discrimination based on gender. Husbands of Queen should thus be King--consort and husbands of Princesses should also be Prince-Consorts. Their issue should be Princes and Princesses. Daughters should succeed to Dukedoms and Earldoms too in their own right and their husbands should be Duke-Consorts and Earl-Consorts. Their children should inherit them as well. Princess Eugenia should be Duchess of York after her father for instance.

I would be a queen in my own right. The only one to claim the throne from me would be the one I chose, whether born of me or someone else of my choosing. Should I marry, even if he is king of another country, my husband would never supersede me.

I guess it would depend what kind of husband I had. If my husband really enjoyed the duties of state and was good at them, I wouldn't mind him being King. But, he'd have to like it and be excellent or I'd rather be in charge. =-)

He would be a king, but we would take on equal responsibilities. Just because he was royalty before I, does not mean we cannot be equal in a partnership.
