Ive thought about this too. Im not sure...but my Granddad had an idea to bury a school bus and use it to make moonshine inside of it. He used to be a "moonshiner" in his young'un' days.

Sure. But there are a lot of pipes and cables down there. You're actually better off buying a place in the country if you want to try that. or create a double basement,which can be very cool. That's another floor BELOW your current basement. I knew a guy who modled his after Hitler's bunker,only not nearly so big. But it had a spiral metal stairway,etc.

a treehouse with plenty of windows is much nicer, especially the potential view
if you have enough wood, its warm enough too

Don't know. I do know my dad built an atom bomb proof (he says it was) under our backyard during the 50's. My mom thought he was nuts but oh well.
