Political correctness, but you could call that a religion unto itself. Anytime people follow a dogma with absolute certainty they blind themselves to the truth. Whether that dogma is religious or non-religious does not matter. Atheists can be just as ignorant and closed minded as religious fundamentalists. Any strict set of beliefs can hinder ones ability to process new information and learn the truth of any situation.
