No we will be screwed. The younger generation has no work ethic and is selfish as hell.

Not all baby boomers are healthy, wealthy, savy and wise.... do you really believe all stereotypes? Many are up to their eyeballs in debt, many are not healthy either. Those who are healthy there have been reports of many who have expressed interest in staying in the workforce or volunteering to stay active.

America will be just fine, the coming generations will be able to handle governing the country and the economy although social security may be taxed out. Just as there was a time before the baby boomers there will be a time after. No worries, we will go on. It's not like baby boomers brought on world peace or have left us with a fabulous environment now have they? The coming generations may do a better job, you never know now do you? Maybe the coming generations will be less about greed, power and consumerism.

I believe that Congress will be forced to privatize a portion of Social Security. The reason for this is because they won't be able to increase the FICA (Federal Insurance Contributions Act) tax on wage earners enough to pay out all the SSA benefits for which Baby Boomers will be eligible! However, as usual, it will be too little too late and the Federal deficit will increase astronomically, causing inflation to also increase sharply! This will cause further hardship for *everyone* on fixed income, including all SSA recipients, not just the newly retired Boomers!

If the Boomers were *really* "very savy and wise", the ones now working would force the Boomers currently in the U. S. Senate and House of Representatives to address this problem *now*! Instead of doing this at present, the Senate and the House are doing all their posturing and passing of useless, non-binding, resolutions, and not getting their jobs done!

some things about life will improve...one thing that has to improve is the way that the gen X generation (those born between (1970-1983) teach their OWN kids about finances, credit scores, credit cards and sex education.

God bless my parents, he knows they tried to teach me about finances and sex...but it was dismal..and left me in an chasm of misunderstanding as well as issues regarding self worth and self assurance. While I asked out girls in high school and college. All they REALLY did was warn me of the consequence of an action that I had NO idea how to even initiate...and even if I DID know that Tab A fits into slot B...did NOT mean I was going to get that chance ANY time soon..

Gen X will have to UNeducate themselves in these regards and then REeduacte themselves as far as how a GOOD sexual relationship should be managed.

With any LUCK at all, our generation will recognize that they NEED to dramatically improve upon the teaching WE got in those areas and ASSURE that our kids get a MUCH better version and with a higher frequency..so that "THE TALK" becomes "the talks" and that our kids get taught about FICO scores, how to do your own taxes, the value of a dollar etc.

The changes that will take place over the next 10-15 years will be interesting. Health advances , Social Security, technology, you name it..things will change dramatically. We will soon see, if we will be able to make things work at the same level with the baby boomers nearing retirement.

IF the baby boomers are healthy, wealthy and very savvy and wise...and I don't discount them ...then WHY did they INSIST on NOT passing that INFORMATION down to the next generation and why does EVERY generation behind them have to UNLEARN AND RELEARN ON THEIR OWN what WAS taught because the baby boomer generation insists that the following generations learn on their own JUST LIKE THEY DID. It just sounds like a plan that didn't work very well. It seems to me that because the baby boomer generation was extremely self reliant, that they EXPECT that everybody else does like they did and they'll have learned and progressed the same way, instead of helping the next generation actually be better than they are....whereas if Gen X teaches their kids and benefits them by teaching them the basics CORRECTLY + helping them in other areas as well, then possibly..their kids will be much more informed than their parents and we might get to the point where society actually progresses because one generation takes care of the next!

The younger people will have more seniority when they retire. The retirement laws raised the bar to 70 years old for most born after us. More college grads who have been taught that unions are bad. That means you will work for less and have fewer benefits. More people not wanting to work for a living and letting the jobs go overseas. You have people complaining about the minimum wage being too low but farmers can't get people for $10 an hour.

We are the first generation where most do not have a company sponsored traditional retirement program. Under the Reagan administration corporations substituted retirement for a company match 401k. Since 401K's are up and down with the stock market, most of us will not be able to retire
