However it costs $3000 and my parents are financially able to fund that. I have a job but I dont get paid enough or am able to work enough to make that much money. What I am really asking is how to go about having someone sponsor me.

You might talk to the department chair or Dean to see if such a thing is possible through the school. I just submitted a request to my dean so that he could look for a sponsor or sponsors for a competition that we participate in, because I don't want to be limited to using students who have money, rather than those who could best learn from participation.

The only problem is that if this is a class in which you are not the only one who couldn't afford it, they would likely raise money for scholarships and there is no guarantee that they would see you as the most likely recipient.

tell your teacher that you are interested but that there is a financial problem. there might be a fund through the school. also you can always go door to door and sell candy or sell candy at school...if you get a box of candy and sell the candy bars for a dollar you will have a net gain of like 15 dollars.

it will take a lot of work. also think of other odd jobs that you could do for family, friends and neighbors.

These answers so far have been good ones but one important point remains - DO NOT give up. You are interested in this course, and you want it enough to ask for help here - focus on it and you'll get the help you need. Talk about your situation with friends, family friends, teachers, anyone... show them that you're excited and determined to do whatever it takes to get on that trip... and you won't be let down. Good luck and remember that as you're going to others for support to join this trip to Spain, one day someone will come to you searching for help.

Just focus on it, every hour, every day!

Have you spoken with your teacher about this? I would think that they would be better able to help you with this.
