Consider a dietary approach. How misleading is it to say that something is 1/3 less fat or fat free! but contains a huge amount of sugar and or high fructose corn syrup. *hint* Sugar not instantly utilized, gets stored for later use as, you guessed it, fat.
Here's the one that REALLY burns my cookies... My daughter had a "scheduling conflict" in high school this year. She has to take P.E. -- online! Let's here it for the Nintendo generation having grown up to become school administrators and teachers! Having spent most of my adult life (literally) running with the Marine Corps, this sounds like an Air Force plot!

The intro doesn't have to have a specific number of sentences, but the sentences it does have should take you directly into the heart of the topic. You could add a statistic to show how much obesity has increased (what does the average 6 year old weight today, compared to what a 6 year old weighed 50 years ago?) or the increase in obesity related illnesses (Stage II Diabetes, arterial plaque, heart and circulatory problems etc) or some hint as to what has fueled this epidemic (fast foods, pre-packaged foods, advertising, etc.) Good luck with it.

What else is required?
If you are allowed to make it a social issue, you could write about how the advancement of technology has led us to live more sedentary lifestyles, which have contributed to this problem.
If you have to make it specific to biological processes, you should do something about diet, the quality of food children consume, fats and oils, sugar, and metabolism.
