What America needs is for its citizens to vote based solely on their personal preferences and beliefs as though they believe their choice will win.

Voting strategically means we all end up voting for the D or R candidate.

I know that voting Green will take a would-be vote from Democrats, but it's the right thing to do. It's my duty to vote according to my beliefs, so that's what I'll do and encourage others to do the same.

America needs a representative from the middle class people that is not an attorney and has the best interest of this country at heart. I do not know of a party that boasts those qualifications or interests. Yeah, that would be a good idea though. Imagine a party that put the family unit, helping between states, supporting justice and fighting terrorism right here in our own country. Where do i sign up?

Although Mark D. makes a good point, that 3rd party people tend to be centrists that want to love everybody. We have entered a point in American history that has two political parties that claim to oppose each other; however they both desire the same over reaching big government.

I believe that if a 3rd party arose that held tightly to a strong Conservative or liberal belief and did not become neutered by the idea that a candidate needs to move to the middle; they would have a strong chance at getting a lot of votes. I doubt they would win, but they would adversely affect the chance of the candidate more centrists on the same beliefs.

YES!! I see people on both sides of the fence disgusted with there party. Disgusted with the politicians not listening to them. Disgusted with failed promises.
A third party president might be just what the politicians for a wake up call.
Imagine the shock of the RNC and the DNC when they see the person in charge of the country doesn't belong to either. Imagine the shock of the politicians when the figure out they need to stand up for the people who put them in office not the people who contributed to their campaign fund

I seriously don't care who it is, but yes. We need at least a third line of thought to go into politics. I hate seeing a two sided war to try and find the middle, I want to see a party that is finding their own path. That being said, I would rather that we just dealt with candidates and not parties. May sound rather odd, but at least in that case, party politics goes away and people back only those people they believe in.

I believe so, but it is a tricky proposition.

I find it tempting to vote for the lesser of two evils given the likelihood that the third won't win. However, a third candidate will never be viable if people don't vote for one sooner or later.

I've decided to vote for the right person regardless. If the will of the majority is to elect some song-and-dance democrat for this term, so be it.

At least one of the two major parties will evolve to honor liberty, or perish. Hopefully sooner than later.

America has never NEEDED to have anything as a prerequisite to actually getting it. When enough people want it, can get together on the platform, it will happen. No law against it. If it takes away the Conservative vote, it will be touted by the media, if it takes away from the Liberal vote, it will be either ignored or crucified by the media.

I doubt it. Far too often, the proponents of third parties don't have much to say about what their party is FOR, they just seem to try to appeal to all of the voters who are disaffected by the Ds and the Rs by just saying "vote for us, we're not Ds or Rs."

Uh-huh. Right. Ross Perot was a straw man put in by the Republicans for the sake of making sure that G.W.H. Bush would get re-elected.

When you have two opposing party's nothing will ever get done, look at congress today! A third party would tend to get more issues completed which is what this country needs right now.
