While it does meet the 300 watt minimum requirement, the 18 Amps at 12 volts for the leg of the power supply that supplies the video card is what matters. Check your power supply to see if the 12v supply is rated for at least 18 amps.
Per EVGA
8600 GT Requirements
Minimum of a 300 Watt power supply with a minimum +12 Volt current rating of 18 Amp Amps.

this is a much argued question, most guys seem to think you need to upgrade your power supply when purchasing a new graphic card
the best way to be safe when upgrading your graphics card is to follow the manufacturers recommendations,if it says use a 350watt psu then you should be allright
however i bought a 256mb geforce 7600gt for my second p.c ,a pentium 4 and although the manufacturer said use a 350watt psu the p4 only had a 300watt psu,the manufacturer sent me back a e-mail saying it was ok to use the 300watt,however when running some games the lack of power shows, the games stutter and jump in parts,so i finally decided to buy a 550watt psu(http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=132721)and it runs great now,and the psu cost only £19,what a bargain
a 550watt psu would run the 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600GT nice and smoothly and you would still have plenty of power for other upgrades
any problems let me know
good luck mate!

i doubt it, 8600 pulls quite a lot of power, i suggest you go for a 450 or 500 watt supply to be on the safe side it depends on whatelse you have on your computer

more than likely u will, it all depends what else is connected to your computer, what other peripherals you have connected to it, if u have speakers, usbs, whatever, it all contributes to draining power supply, my best answer will be yes, get a power supply with more watts

no you won't have to move the board, power supplies are cheap to buy so getting anew larger one won't hurt the pocket to much.
