And Why?

Not sorry to see Garner go, just hope they find someone better (shouldn't be difficult).

I'd have given Purpura one more year, because this season was held hostage to Biggio's victory lap -- which doesn't explain everything, true, but Purp had limited freedom in some ways. Ah well... maybe they can get Hunsicker back? (I hope they find a new GM soon, Tal Smith as acting GM is little improvement.)

Nice to wait until after Bagwell's jersey retirement day.

These changes won't make much difference (if any at all) for 2007, but it does allow for a head start on rebuilding for 2008.

I dont know that Tim guy, but I was very glad when Phil Garner got fired as The Tiger's manager several years ago. That was a gift from the baseball Gods.

I liked him as a player, but I really didnt like him as a manger.

Now the Astros can get a new start. Garner and Tim were doing horrible this year. They barely made any trades.

Thats what happens when things don't work. Garner is a good baseball man and will land on his feet.

It seems both teams from the '05 World Series are struggling. In fact, I would not be surprised if Ozzie Guilen gets fired.
