I am taking 30 mg of Paxil daily, usually before bed. I know that antidepressants are good for lowering sex drive, but I hate it! I find it very hard to orgasm because of it. I've been on either Paxil or others for 11 years due to fibromyalgia-it levels out my seratonin. Any advice on how to kick my sex drive back in gear? Would changing the time I take them help, or is it the fact that it's in my system so it wouldn't matter?

Thank you!

Unfortunately its the chemicals in your system, and no matter when you take them, its going to be a problem.

You might want to discuss this with your prescribing doctor; maybe he/she has some suggestions. Also, there are herbals out that can help women to increase their libido so you might want to look into something like that.

I wish you luck.

Changing the time that you take them probably won't make a difference as they're already in your system. You may want to check with your doctor...a lot of new anti-depressants have come out, some that don't interfere with sex drive. I have been on lexapro for about a year or so and have had NO problems with this...I do remember being on Paxil and I did have that problem. Let your doctor know you're not happy with this side effect and see what he or she can recommend. It may be time for a change...

I had this problem with Paxil, and I know exactly how you feel. It's very frustrating. My doctor recommended adding Wellbutrin SR (not XL), and that seems to help me, so you might ask him/her about whether you could add Wellbutrin to counteract the negative sexual side effects. Good luck!

Many anti-depressants lower sex drive, alcohol lowers inhibitions. Simple, talk to your doc about switching you to a med that has less risk of sexual side-affects and don't drink so much. maybe your drive will come back and you'll figure out which sex you prefer.

changing the time will not help. you could ask your doc about trying zoloft instead of paxil, or adding welbutrin to your current regimen
