I will be selling T-shirts via my online store. Do I have to register for Florida Sales Tax? Also, do I have to charge only Florida customers, or customers from other states and countries as well?

I have an online purse business, and Yes you do need to register for a sales tax licence and you should charge FL residents for any sales. Now, as a FYI, you have to file these taxes every quarter (3 months) and if you are late...you will assess a $50.00 late fee on top of whatever your sales taxes are.

The clear advantage is revenue. The government taxes to collect revenue to do other things - whether fund the military, stimulus money, bigger buildings, whatever. Similarly, the general disadvantage to taxing anything is that the power to tax is the power to destroy. Taxing internet sales would curb internet sales. People would by less often and/or less expensive things if there was a tax.

You'd have to charge sales tax just to FL customers, if that's where you are located. You have to register with the state in order to collect it and pay it to them.

The best advice would be to "Consult with a tax/business lawyer", but you only need to collect and remit taxes from the state in which you conduct business. It is technically the responsibility of the person purchasing the item to report the purchase and pay taxes to their local taxing authority (but RARELY does that happen of course).
