Yes, it is and it is celebrating the fact the fallen angels came to earth and disguised as men married women and had hybred offspring. Then they were destroyed in the flood and that is what your celebrateing their death. So it is a demonic holiday inspired by Satan.

Actually jiam b, Celt's didn't worship demons on Nov. 1. That would be their Samhain. Which was the beginning of Winter for them, and winter in those days pretty much equalled death. They did believe that the boundary separating the living and dead became blurred on this day as well as Beltane (which was the beginning of Summer) The celts believe that the spirits would help them accuratley predict how much food they'd need for the coming winter.
That's not so much Satanic. Christians pray for help. And many Christians believe that the spirits of their loved ones are looking over them. It's a time to respect and honor a lost loved one.
All Saints Day is on Nov. 1. And back in the day the two Holidays were often celebrated on the same day. All Souls Day is on Nov. 2. These are Catholic festivals. Do you know what is All Souls Day is? It's a day to commemorate the dead who have not yet reached Heaven. Sound a bit familiar, aye?
Now to the asker, no, I do not think of halloween as a Satanic holiday. Growing up when I didn't know anything about Paganism and whatever, all Halloween was to me, was dressing up and getting candy. That's what it still is. It will always be that. It really gets to me when I hear about parents not allowing their children to take part in such a "evil" holiday. They don't know. Many adults still don't know the history of Halloween. We celebrated Halloween at my church. And no it wasn't the Church of Satan. It was Finley Baptist Church and we dressed up, got candy and played silly games. Harmless. They wont grow up to worship Satan because they dressed as a Princess. However they may get a cavity or two. ;)

As some of the other said, it's the ancient festival of Samhain, the Celtic new year.
But more importantly, this pagan holiday serves a very important and healthy psychological function. It's the holiday that acknowledges the death aspect of the life cycle (all pagan holidays celebrate some aspect of the life cycle),, and invites people to 'walk around in its shoes' so to speak. By dressing up as symbols of the things we fear, and by allowing ourselves to be frightened (as in haunted houses), we acknowledge and embrace our fears and therefore, gain a better understanding of them.
This brings our fear into light and removes its power to make us afraid. So you see, it helps us process the fear and change it into something manageable. The holiday also celebrates the hope of an afterlife, so it's not just about fear either. This is why it's so fun and exciting, and good to participate in. We will get nowhere with our fears if we always run from them. We will do much better to understand that fears can be endured and survived, and changed.

Neither the origin nor the modern celebration of Halloween is Satanic. The origin is superstitious but not Satanic. And many of the modern practices are based on Christianity. For example, trick-or-treating come from people going door-to-door collecting for the poor.

Anyone who thinks Halloween is satanic will believe anything the church tells them (like that the Earth is flat!). Halloween is just another tradition rooted in the observance of solstice and equinox, which the church considered heretic. And of course, every heretical activity is satanic, according to the fundamentalist Christians.

the real samhain has nothing to do with satan. the celtics never had satan in thier belief system. the holiday has become americanized so the deity of anglo-chirstian religions have infused into halloween.

My dad used to say that but I remember this church we used to go to had a halloween party and it was hilarious. Hilarious. hilarious.
anyway no, not really. I probably learned what it was for a while ago but I forget and I don't really care. Nowadays, for most kids, Halloween is just a time to dressup and take candy from strangers.

No, it isn't. I love Halloween!! Its my favorite. I don't worship satan on that day. I just like the scariness and I enjoy the fall season, pumpkin carving and handing out candy to the little trick-or-treaters.

Halloween...or All Hallows Eve, comes from an ancient Celtic traditions and Wicca traditions that believed the spirits came back to Earth during that time of the year. Gifts and honor where bestowed to those spirits during this time period.
The Catholic religion wanted to convert these "heathen" without going to war, so they demonized this belief, saying that demons came during this time, and witches (Wicca) did evil spells, etc. With this new belief, came new traditions that people during the Middle Ages, would fear that night and would leave food outside on their doorsteps to appease the spirits, so as not to have tricks done to them. Also if they had to leave the household that night, they would disguise themselves so the spirits would'nt recognize them (sounds familiar?). From this, our modern Halloween traditions came about. Is it Satanic? Depends on who you ask....the Wicca's, or the Catholics.
