I have to confess that I am too, and I can't find a reason to this.

Because life is just never as fulfilling as you see on TV

Cause this damned race of people are cursed with a free will!!! For whatever reason they will choose to be a douchebag and think that being all gloom and doom is going to help it!!! I mean I have my days but I'm not cutting my wrists and letting my hair grow like some sissy @ss emo kid!

There isn't a reason or purpose for this. Reason and purpose are just illusions of control and sometimes you just can't help but say the glass is half empty. Why does this pan out this way, not sure it just happens.

I try to be as upbeat and optimistic as I can be, but there are times that I go into a situation with the feeling of, "Oh sh!t, how the hell did I let myself get into this!" What's great about that is if the manipulation of that situation differs from the outcome I had originally envisioned then I'm estatic!

Damn good question, wish I had the answer!!!

Oh and I wish my grass were emo, so it would cut itself!!!

I ama pessimist, and I think it is that way becuae we were very poor growing up. We always went without, never had anything new, and times were hard. Mind you, I am not complaining, I am just saying it affects how you see things. Even now, I am very well of and never want for anything, it is like I am always for the other shoe to fall.

Just how different people think... I happen to see all of the bad possibilities all of the time - hence I have a fun anxiety disorder. I wish there was just a switch I could pop and be optimistic. Oh well ;o)

Because life is full of loneliness and misery and suffering and it's all over much too quickly. But to me all this tragedy in life is comedic. So I'm an optimist who's pessimistic.

I think pessimistic people don't realize that it's a choice. You can be optimistic (the glass is half full), realistic (there’s 4 oz there) or pessimistic (the glass is half empty)….

"Pessimism" and "optimism" aren't dualities, as they're based on perspective. Pessimism would be defined as the belief that things in the world are generally evil, bad, or generally unpleasant. Well, first you must define what "evil", "bad", and "unpleasant" are from an objective standpoint, which is very difficult.

What is unpleasant to one person may be pleasant to another.

I don't like to use the term at all.

Chemical balance of the brain is responsible for your outlook on life. It has been argued that it is inherited from your parents just like the color of your eyes, hair and the shape of your nose.
