Israel has suffered more terrorist attacks than any other modern day country . And after years of intensifying their security and informing their people , they now live with less terrorist attacks than before . In fact , their own government credits the people themselves as the 'Frontline on Terror' . Vigilance . Reporting suspicious behavior , etc .
Have they been successful because their people or media diminished the threat ? (laughable)
Do U.S. Republicans diminish the threat ?-- Nahhh , I don't think so .
So Who Does Diminish The Threat ? Hmmm .
And WHY ?
Why Would Any Responsible American Diminish The Threat From Terrorist Radical Islam ?
Ya know , as a side note , I can recall numerous liberal posts and politicians who not only dismiss the threat as 'small' , 'few' , and 'more likely to get killed in a tornado'. Does that help ?
Did Israelis say those things ?
And how many times have we seen a liberal say that we should learn based upon what 'other' countries did ?

I'm trying to remember the last time a suicide bomber blew up a US cafe full of students, or a bus full of commuters, as happened *regularly* in Israel for a very long time, and you know? I'm not coming up with an example. The *only* major example of terrorism in recent US history is 9/11, which the administration has milked ever since. Oh--and the Oklahoma City bombing, but few people refer to that terroristic act simply because it was committed by a so-called Christian.
If we're ever attacked as often as the public in Israel, then few people would be minimizing the threat. But we are not.
ETA: Here below is a list of terrorist attacks in Israel through 2006. I'd say we have a long, long way to go before we have it even a 10th as bad--and I hope we stay that way. I'm happy to stay vigilant to make sure we do. But I would rather we deal from a position of strength: We have nothing to fear but fear itself.
Part 1: 1949-1967
Part 2: 1968-1980
Part 3: 1981-1992
Part 4: 1993-2000
Part 5: 2001
Part 6: 2002
Part 7: 2003
Part 8: 2004
Part 9: 2005
Part 10: 2006

I think israel is in more danger than we are. we do have a greater chance- statisitcly- of getting hit by lightening tan dying from terrorists.
of course this doesn't mean we are not in danger and should not be alert to suspicious activitiy, but we must go on with our day to day live and protect our liberty at all costs

Do Israelis Call ' Terror Threats ' - 'Fear Mongering' ?
I can't speak to what people think or do in Israel, but you can be sure that if politicians tried to time the announcement of a supposed threat in order to give themselves or their own party political advantage, as it appears this administration has done, Israelis would be every bit as enraged as Americans should be.
Ahh you want proof - check out Kieth Olbermanns "The nexus of politics and terror "

He lays out MANY instances where "coincidences" are just too close for comfort

I cannot picture Israel taking terrorism lightly after all they've been through in their history.
I cannot imagine why any Americans would take terrorism lightly.
We don't need to live in fear, but we need to live in vigilance.

Actually, India and Iraq have suffered more terrorist attacks.
But, yes, nobody in Israel, India, Iraq, Ireland, Thailand, etc. don't play down terrorist attacks.
But they also don't try to use them for political points either.

Terrorism was invented by Bush, Cheney, Rove, etc. to frighten America so they could take all our liberties away. Just like Hitler did.
There is no terrorist threat against the US whatsoever. The WTC was blown up by Halliburton.
(SARCASM - but I think I pretty much covered the territory inhabited by a significant portion of the left.)

You ruined your own question as soon as you said the word "liberal." Everyone in this country could learn from Israel's example on anti-terrorism, yet you deem liberals as the only ones who could.

With Saddam Hussein DEAD, there is no one paying $20,000 for a parent to strap a bomb on a "slow child". Other money-loaded Muslims must have been doing the same thing. With the monetary incentive gone (and $20,000 will buy a lot of beans in the Middle East) parents suddenly like their "slow"children more.

You're right, the US should model it's policies for dealing with terrorism from Israeli policies. After all, when a nation gets into the business of invading and oppressing other nations and nationalities, terrorism is just a cost of doing business.

They can't afford to play political games over security as they are surrounded by those that would see to their destruction.
Unfortunately in our country, Democrats would rather minimize the reality of our threats by replacing them with views such as "The war on terror is a bumper sticker slogan" or "The Bush Administration is using terrorism as an excuse to invade our privacy and violate our rights".
I guess it will take a few suicide bombers to hit NYC or DC to wake them up, of course then they will find a way to blame that on our "war on terror" making "them" hate us.
