I'm not a liberal or conservative, but what troubles me is that this president has turned republican against republican and given the democrats the upper hand, the danger in all this is that it might turn into a one party system that eventually turn into dictatorship, especially with persons like Ted Kennedy in power.

To those that question Ted Kennedy as a dictator, not too long ago,he tried passing an immigration bill that the majority of americans did not want, him and his puppet Harry Reid did it behind closed doors without telling americans what it contained, the only reason it didn't passed is because there are still enough republicans against it,but what if there would have been more democrats in congress

The first step would be to stop supporting him. If the Republican Party, more or less as a whole, would come out publicly against some of Bush's politics, they would get back a LOT of their former reputation as a take-charge party that demands good behavior.

with any luck this is only too late to repair the wear completed to the Republican party. As a Republican for i might wager a minimum of thrice as long via fact the prevalent man or woman utilising this internet site, i've got desperate that this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, for the 1st time ever i'm going to vote a quickly party fee ticket, whether it's going to be for the Democrats. i think this is time for the GOP disband interior the interest of freedom, of liberty and decency. enable us to desire that the Republic will stay to tell the story in a recognizable type. i'm hoping extra interest would be paid to coaching interior the destiny, the countless responses above coach all too of course what the crumple of the educational structures of the country have produced. with any luck we are able to get decrease back to relatives values, no longer Gambino relatives values as we've had the final 6 years.

Cheer up my friend. This country has a long history of moderate politics so we are most likely much more safe that even I think, and I am one of the more paranoid ones.
The constitution does protect us from dictatorships and it is highly unlikely that there will be enough 'pro dictator' representatives elected to repeal the amendments which protect us.

they can figure out how to get out of Iraq with no negative consequences
If you really think the Democrats will raise a dictatorship you have no understanding of Democratic values {which have Democracy at their core}. And Ted Kennedy as a dictator? Come on! I can't believe I took your question seriously at 1st.

First of all President Bush is doing a very good job!
Second of all the Republican party split back in 1980 when the conservative 'Scoop Jackson' democrats [Perle, Wolfowitz, Jean Kirkpatrick, et. al.) defected to the Republican party forming the "neocons" who have been influencing republican administrations to this very day.
Now we have a split within the Republican Party between the Neocons and the Paleo Conservatives.
BUT the U.S. is far better off with a Republican administration than we would ever be with a Democrat in the White House.

It seems to be a cycle of American politics that when one party gets a hold of all the power, like the republicans from 2001-06, they move so far from the center that they lose their hold on power. If Republicans distance themselves from their lunatic Rush/Fox News fringe, they'll be fine.

Nothing - just take your lumps and in a couple years they'll make a comeback. Its been happening since 1776.
So the dems can have power for awhile, this isnt a monarchy. They wont be able to do much. then if bad things happen, they'll take the blame and all of the sudden its' the republicans who look like they are our saving voice. amazing .

someone once made an analogy of a pendulum it swings right hitting its maximum potential it will now swing left (lets hope not too far) and usually puts us all back in the center - I like that analogy for the US -but I like waterproofs answer even better

Not to worry. Bush is the closest we'll have to a dictator than Ted Kennedy could ever hope to be.
