pregnant.
yes it can happen-but your body probably won't let it happen and if it does you are at higher risk of miscarriage. There are other factors too-like if you breastfeed you are less likely. However-sex can create life-so just be smart and use protection regradless.

Oh yes, that's a VERY fertile time! Just happened to my friend's daughter. She made the mistake of thinking you couldn't get pregnant right after giving birth, especially since she had trouble getting pregnant the first time. Now she'll have given birth to 2 kids within a year. Good luck!

While it's not impossible to get pregnant the day you give birth, it's not wise. There are many documented cases of women concieving within days or even hours of giving birth.

With that said, I must reinterate, it's not wise. To allow the mother's body to heal completely from the stresses of pregnancy and delivery, it is recommended to wait 1 year after giving birth before trying to get pregnant again.

Also, it is recommended to wait 4 - 6 weeks after giving birth before having sex at all, or even using a tampon.

Hope this helps.

It takes about six weeks for your fertility to return, under normal circumstances, but it can return sooner. If you are breastfeeding, this may be delayed substantially, for months or even years. The sooner after a pregnancy you give birth, though, the higher your risk of complications such as miscarriage.

You do have to be careful, because it is possible to ovulate before you get your first post-partum period. Someone who is not exclusively breastfeeding is at the greatest risk of starting sooner, but even some exclusive breastfeeders see their periods return far sooner than they'd like (mine came back by 3 months, unfortunately, even though my daughter was a hardy, round-the-clock nurser.)

I have a friend who has stayed pregnant for pretty much three years... by six to ten weeks, she was always fertile and pregnant again.

Why would you want to have sex so quickly after giving birth? I would imagine that this is the LAST thing in the world that would sound fun.
