Homer Simpson is a Republican. In the Simpsons show, he has joked about how bad Democrats are.

Well, he can't be a Democrat or Green since he works at a nuclear power plant.
He can't be an Independent because independents actually THINK about their decisions.
He's not religious, and he doesn't like his clean-cut family-values neighbor, so he's not part of the Republican Right.
And he doesn't like is rich boss, either, so he's not one of the pro-business Republcans.
So I'd say he probably doesn't vote, doesn't follow politics at all, but complains endlessly about how bad things are.

and if he did he would mistakenly vote for the outcome he was against

Homer is extremely self-centered and short-sighted. He is a Republican. Marge is a Democrat. Lisa is an Independent. Bart is an anarchist. Maggie, like Homer, thinks only about herself and safety, so she is also a Republican.
