Last month (July), I had a real weird cycle where my period lasted for 3 weeks. I was travelling, stressing so last month would most likely have been an anovulatory month. Never happened to me before. So obgyn prescribed Provera and everything came back to normal. I received a positive OPK on CD 15. My temps have been high since ovulation. My obgyn wanted to follow up with me (she's very helpful) this month to see if I ovulated. So I'm going tomorrow which will be 7dpo. She will be doing a transvaginal ultrasound.

My question is: IF I have implanted by tomorrow (7dpo), will my doc be able to see the implantation or will the zygote be too small to see.....will she be able to tell at all if I might be pregnant or in the process of getting pregnant..or its just too soon?

Also, can a blood test this early detect pregnancy? I was thinking since I'm already at the doc's office, to get it done unless it's useless at this stage......?

An ultrasound 7 days after ovulation is of little value in telling about this cycle. I suppose if she saw a large unovulated follicle, it would suggest something, but who's to say that you didn't have TWO follicles this month and ovulated one and no the other. What would be better is to get a serum progesterone level.

There is no way to see an implantation seven days after ovulation.

Again, the progesterone value would be helpful to 1. confirm that you ovulated 2. diagnose if you had a luteal phase defect

Best of luck. Your doctor seems genuinely interested in your fertility which is great for you.

I'd say if you think you might be pregnant ask for the blood test. Probably you have to go to a lab to get it done, so you can wait a day or two to do that. It will be plenty of time. Blood tests detect any level of hormone :-) Good luck. I don't know about what you will or won't see on the U/S, but I'm interested in the answer.

Gosh, good questions, I have no idea. My guess is that I doubt she'll be able to tell from looking, but I'm not a doctor. I'm not even sure a blood test would show yet. I think she just wants to make sure you're ovulating -- maybe she'll bring you back in a few days later to do all the rest?

Good luck in any case! Let us know how it goes.

It will be too early for an ultrasound to show anything indicating pregnancy.
A blood test MIGHT be positive, but not very reliable yet.
However, while you are there you should really consider asking her to go ahead and draw blood and do a progesterone level.
