It really does depend. But since I generally like watching orchestras, I think I would prefer to watch a concerto or a soloist being accompanied by an orchestra rather than a person alone.

I've seen both and I'd have to say I enjoy watching the soloist and then having them be joined by the whole orchestra for the climatic finally.

I prefer an orchestra. Soloists tend to run out of ideas and tend to play the same melodies over and over. However, I've only seen amateur soloists.

depends I am not much of a fan for concertos but if the solo is with a jazz band or a rock band then it is good. Or if the solo is part of the orchestral piece and not just a concerto it is good.
