Either the RAM (random access memory) or the mass storage (hard drives, flash drives, etc)
To increase either, you simply buy some and install it.
But...
The amount of RAM that you can install is limited by the motherboard, the amount you already have installed, and the operating system. Increasing the RAM will have the biggest impact on performance if there is a way to increase it (there might not be).
Mass storage can be increased by getting a larger hard drive, adding more hard drives, adding flash and probably fifteen other ways. But mass storage devices tend to be slow (in computer terms) so increasing mass storage will allow you to save lots more things, but it won't usually make your computer run any faster.
Truth be told, if you're asking this question then you may not want to take on the task of increasing the computer's memory yourself. Find a geek friend and ask him/her. Usually, they're happy to help out with this sort of thing.
