I think you should be able to do what you want to do. If you like poetry, then write it! Who cares what other people think?

It's Intellectual. I can see how a thug might see an Intellectual endevour as feminine, since most prison inmates dont' write poetry. But, who cares what they think? I personally hate poetry. I think it's for writing and then throwing away. Never to be read to another person, never to be seen again. I hate readingmy own poetry. I hate reading anyone else's poetry. Even when I know it's good, I'd much rather be doing anything else.

I have been writing since I was like 8 years old. Its a great way to get whats in my head out. Sometimes its hard to talk to other people. So I sit down and write. Sometimes I follow a form, others I just free verse it. I don't like to share my poetry because people spend too much time reading into it about me and not let the poetry speak for itself.

Yes..we live in a country that has always been anti-intellectual. However, being male has been "dumbed down" even more in the last ten to twenty years, which is why it's acceptable to be an overgrown adolescent well into your forties.
JFK used read Robert Frost, and invited him to the White House. Dubya doesn't even read the funnies.
Keep writing, darling.

the respond is "NO"! reliable for you, writing poetry! Your best chum is certainly a best chum for encouraging you. As others have written, there have been many, many male poets, so which you should view your hobby extra truthfully for the reason which you're in reliable agency. do no longer difficulty approximately being attracted to poetry, i for my section won't be in a position to think of everybody, male or woman, no longer loving it! BTW, if movies are unhappy, we ought to consistently all be waiting to cry, it is been shown to be a healthy reaction! facilitates the immune gadget, or some thing :)

No! For a guy to prove a feminine writing ability, he would need to author typical "Rap" crap, you know, that muttering and boasting into the microphone with jungle drums in the background. Now, that's feminine writing.

If you like it, you should do it. People are constantly characterizing others-- irregardless of what you do. Writing poetry never made you less of man.

I find it kinda cute actually. If you enjoy it, then do it! Don't stop doing something you love because you're afraid of what people will think of you or you'll miss out on the fun parts in life :)
