My wife and I are looking for a place like I described for my brother inlaw. And his fiancee is from out of town. They want an outdoor gazebo pretty like place to have a simple ceremony in San Antonio. What places are there, even though I know a couple places maybe there are better options to look at.

There is a park in new braunfels called Landa park.... It has a gazebo overlooking the river, and some beautiful magnolia trees all around it... New braunfels isn't too far from SA so it would be something to consider... It also has an area very close to the gazebo that has a stage (for a dj) and a HUGE dancing area.
The Dance area is $150 for the day
and the Gazebo is $75 for 2 hours... Weddings don't typically take more than 1 hr.

This is a website that has more info... Good Luck!

Brakenridge Park, The Botanical Gardens, but the place that I am really going to suggest I know that you have already thought of it and have dismissed it. That is at your house in the back yard and for several reasons. If at the last minute the weather is bad there is no problem moving most of it into the house. There is a place for them to change into regular clothing, It is more cost effective, It is easier to control what is going on, It is very easy to fix up a place in the back yard for the ceremony, bathroom close by, electricity, Air conditioning if the heat reaches an all time high. surroundings are familiar to everyone making it more comfortable. I was pretty well opposed to a in home wedding until we did one for some friends and was really pleased at how well it turned out. You haven't said that there are any budget restraints but this won't break the bank and can be just a good old fashion wedding God bless the couple and you all for doing this for them

There is a small island on the Riverwalk where people get married and it is a nice site, otherwise check with the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department. They have a list of sites used frequently for weddings.

Another idea, though I don't know the current cost, There is a restaurant on Harry Wurzbach called Crumpets. They have a creek and waterfall area next to it. My wife and I were not married there, but we had our reception at the restaurant which was at the site before Crumpets moved in. Most of our wedding photos were made around the grounds and they are very lovely.

There is a place down town called LA Villita (sounds like V-EETA) It is reasonably cheap and they have different areas to choose from with different prices. Very historic and pretty.
