But even though it says that its a 2.0 usb it doesn't work for 2.0 drives like my ipod. When ever I plug my ipod it says "This device can preform faster...click this to see 2.0 ports" So I do and it gives me a list of ports that are hi-speed and 2.0 but the thing is that where can I go or what do I do to plug it into those ports they are showing me because I only have 3 USB ports on my Vaio and all of them are set to the same speed (1.0-1.1). So what can I do so I can have my USB ports a 2.0? Also I was reading some articles and they were saying change BIOS settings to Hi-Speed instead of Full-Speed. How can I go into BIOS?

Need to get into BIOS; try reading screen when laptop first powers on, it'll TELL you what to press.

Alternatively, and radically, you could always try "READING THE MANUAL IT CAME WITH"

Same answer goes for all 3 times you asked this withing 5 mins.

as a fashion to apply hi velocity (2.0) USB you should be using a hi-velocity device, a hi-velocity port and a hi-velocity cable. even however a USB a million.a million will artwork on a USB 2.0 port, and vice-versa, they are going to artwork on the slower a million.a million velocity. I consistently theory that the fee of the USB 2.0 port became computerized and did no longer require BIOS differences to examine the fee of the device, yet i should be incorrect. besides, in case you want to envision the BIOS placing of your USB ports, reboot your Vaio and press F2 on the 1st SONY exhibit screen. that gets you into the BIOS settings. i do no longer understand what the particular call is for the Vaio USB BIOS settings is, yet i could look below PORTS. One place you are able to look just to determine you have some USB 2.0 ports is in device supervisor. to try this, impressive click on MY laptop and then click on cope with. interior the laptop administration window, click on device supervisor, then amplify extensive-unfold SERIAL BUS controllers. someplace below that heading there must be an greater HOST CONTROLLER, in case you have USB 2.0 ports.

You must install a 2.0 USB device before you can use the 2.0 speed. Your device will work with USB 1, but at the slower speed. From what you are saying I gather that your system does not have a USB 2 slot.

Hit "delete" upon startup to go into bios to enable high-speed USB. XP and Vista has USB drivers but if you are running 98SE you have to install the 2.0 drivers that are on the motherboard CD.

When you boot up there's usually a brief sentence that says 'Press DEL to enter Setup' or something similar. When you see it just hit the Delete key and it should take you into the BIOS setup screen.

Warning: don't poke around with anything you don't understand or it may damage your computer!
