But even though it says that its a 2.0 usb it doesn't work for 2.0 drives like my ipod. When ever I plug my ipod it says "This device can preform faster...click this to see 2.0 ports" So I do and it gives me a list of ports that are hi-speed and 2.0 but the thing is that where can I go or what do I do to plug it into those ports they are showing me because I only have 3 USB ports on my Vaio and all of them are set to the same speed (1.0-1.1). So what can I do so I can have my USB ports a 2.0? Also I was reading some articles and they were saying change BIOS settings to Hi-Speed instead of Full-Speed. How can I go into BIOS?

Need to get into BIOS; try reading screen when laptop first powers on, it'll TELL you what to press.

Alternatively, and radically, you could always try "READING THE MANUAL IT CAME WITH"

Same answer goes for all 3 times you asked this withing 5 mins.

In order to use Hi Speed (2.0) USB you have to be using a Hi-Speed device, a Hi-Speed port and a Hi-Speed cable. Even though a USB 1.1 will work on a USB 2.0 port, and vice-versa, they will work at the slower 1.1 speed.

I always thought that the speed of the USB 2.0 port was automatic and didn't require BIOS changes to match the speed of the device, but I could be wrong.

Anyway, if you want to check the BIOS setting of your USB ports, reboot your Vaio and press F2 at the first SONY screen. That will get you into the BIOS settings. I don't know what the particular name is for the Vaio USB BIOS settings is, but I would look under PORTS.

One place you can look just to make sure you have some USB 2.0 ports is in Device Manager. To do that, right click on MY COMPUTER and then click on MANAGE.

In the COMPUTER MANAGEMENT window, click on DEVICE MANAGER, then expand UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS controllers. Somewhere under that heading there should be an ENHANCED HOST CONTROLLER, if you have USB 2.0 ports.

Either your VAIO USB is still 1.1 or your BIOS needs some configurations. Different brands have different BIOS format and button key to get there but majority use either F1, DEL, F10, F12, CTRL or try all other "F" buttons. Press either of these buttons while "booting up" (that is keep pressing it as soon as you turn the power on). Remember, once you are finish don't forget to "save and exit" or "save without exit" if you are not sure what you did to your BIOS :) Good luck!

Sounds like you either don't truly have usb 2.0 or your drivers for the usb are incorrect. You don't ever have to physically change the settings on USB. It will always use the fastest format available on the device you plug in.
