Being an ex collegiate football player, and have a great love for the sport, Mike Vick was well on his way to being a hall of fame player. He is probably one of the best QB's in the game today.
The NFL has put a lifetime ban on players that are found guilty of gambling on sports. Today Mike Vick entered a guilty plea on illegal dog fighting, which is not a sport. The NFL still decided to suspend him for life as of now.....
He will most likely serve about 2 years in federal prison, and when you get sentanced to 2 years in federal prison, you do 2 years in prison. There is no early release for good behavior.
By the time he gets done with serving time, if he does have to serve time, the question will be if he can still play at that level.
Personally I believe that he should be able to play in the NFL again. I believe that if a man is found or pleads guilty, serves his time, should be allowed all the freedoms we all share. he has paid his debt to society, and he is level again.
Thats just my 2 cents worth.....

At first I thought Vick should be banned for good, but this is America. He does deserve a second chance, but only if he repents for his actions and shows that he is a changed man. He should do community service educating kids about gambling and dog fighting following his prison sentence. He needs to explain how this is wrong and should not be done by anyone. This is a first offense as well. So, if he can learn from his mistakes and give back to the community, then by all means he deserves a second chance. If he screws up at all, then he should get kicked out no questions asked. Everyone deserves a second chance as long as they show improvement in their life.
What Vick did was very wrong, but I am a Christian, and I feel everyone deserves a second chance as long as they repent and make amends.

Even if Vick is allowed to return in four years, He will be 31 years old. I don't think there will be many teams wanting to take a chance on a 31 yearold QB that has been out of the league for four years. Also, how many teams will want the PR nightmare?

Let him serve his 12 to 18 months (minimum) in jail and see what happens. If he has any hope of playing in the NFL again he'll have to do a lot to show the league and his critics that he has learned from his mistake. It's possible but he could be 32 by the time he gets out and is eligible.

No. I think we can say by the comments of Michael Vick's colleagues that this was not an isolated incident in the NFL. It is obvious that this is a serious pro blem within the league. If Goddell bans him from the league, then maybe the others players will think twice before putting $10,000 down on Rufus again.

I think he should be able to return to the NFL, because in his own mind " Everybody Luv Mike Vick!!". However, knowing that a quarterback needs to have intellegence and make good decisions for his team, Michael "ConVick" has proven to me he can't make a good decision to save his life. Put him as a slot reciever. Not a lot of intellegence in that position. Just run as if a pit bull was chasing you and catch that ball.

I really hate animal abusers but since he apologized and is going to either go to jail or pay a HUGE fine I think he should be allowed back in the NFL, but not for a couple of years. If hes stupid enough to do it again then he should be banned from the NFL and have to go to jail for a very long time. People do deserve second chances.

Tank Johnson had enough weapons to start his own army. He didn't get banned from the NFL. Ray Lewis was involved in a murder trial. He didn't get banned from the NFL either. I am in no way defending the stupidity of Michael Vick, but at the same time, he should be allowed to come back AFTER he finishes his jail sentence, which is going to knock him out for this season and next season, and after he goes to NFL Jail, which is a suspension for a season. I think he'll come back but not as a quarterback. Perhaps as a running back or safety
